Elementary Education

In order to effectively optimize a child’s academic potential, we provide a learning environment that incorporates a variety of teaching techniques while accommodating individual learning styles. Our curriculum builds proficiency in higher order thinking skills, literacy, technology, and computational and theoretical processes, while nurturing artistic, physical, and interpersonal development.

Our elementary school program provides students the opportunity to gain strong academic skills in a safe and nurturing environment. We individualize to our students in the areas of reading and math, which allow them all to grow and reach for the full potential without facing boundaries. In the areas of science and social studies, we utilize a rigorous curriculum and give students the experience of working collaboratively with project-based learning. In addition to their core academic subjects, our curriculum includes offerings in art, Spanish, PE and music.

We designed our classes to be small in order for teachers to know their students so that they can differentiate instruction to their specific needs. It also allows us to create safe classroom environments where students can grow academically and socially. Our specific grade level ratios are determined by academic development. Our elementary school students have the opportunity to participate in golf, tennis, equestrian, ballet, drum lessons, soccer, basketball, STEM clubs, yoga and circus school. Our elementary students take a minimum of two field trips each school year. The field trips are thematically related to our units of study, providing students the opportunity to experience “real world” learning.

To best prepare our elementary students in our secondary programs, we offer learning opportunities for them with STEM Curriculum, spelling bees, geography bees, math competitions, and problem solving.

We work with our elementary school students to help them learn the skills of organization and time management. Our teachers also work with them to form the community mindset so that they each take ownership of our school environment and practice treating one another with kindness.

Shaping the Student

Crestwell believes each student has to be recognized as an important individual whose self-esteem, attitude, and academic curiosity must be handled with a positive approach. We offer our students a caring, creative, character building community. We are committed to providing an excellent education for the individual child as well as supporting their emotional and social need

We seek to teach our students computer uses and applications as tools for research, problem solving, design and communication. It is our goal to send our students into this rapidly changing world prepared and enthusiastic for the technological changes to come in their lifetimes.

STEM Academics

We provide a comprehensive approach to science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics. Through activity, project, and project-based curriculum, Crestwell School gives students a chance to apply what they know, identify problems, find unique solutions, and lead their own learning.

15:1 Student-Teacher Ratio

Our goal is to ignite the full academic potential of every student. We accomplish this by providing a low student/teacher ratio, which allows a teacher to better understand how each student learns. Our small class sizes allow our teachers to individualize lesson plans, be more responsive to students’ needs, and to continually challenge them academically.

Open Door Policy

Crestwell School shares the responsibility with the parent for instilling positive values and a love of learning. We believe that to be complete, the sense of family fostered on our campus must include parents, and to that end, we maintain effective and frequent oral and written communications and an “open door” policy.
