Fort Myers, FL
Crestwell School held its inaugural National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) induction ceremony on March 10, 2026, welcoming 14 middle school students as the founding members of the school's first NJHS chapter.
The ceremony marked a milestone for Crestwell, a 32-year-old independent school in Fort Myers that serves students from PreK through 8th grade. The 14 inductees were recognized for demonstrating excellence across the five pillars of NJHS: scholarship, leadership, service, character, and citizenship.
"This is a proud moment for our school community. Establishing a National Junior Honor Society chapter reflects what we see in our students every day, a commitment to doing the right thing, leading by example, and serving others. These 14 students are setting a standard for every class that follows."
Maria C. Niebuhr, Head of SchoolNJHS, a program of the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP), recognizes outstanding middle school students in grades 6 through 8. Membership is based on a combination of academic achievement and demonstrated leadership, service, and character, not grades alone.
The new NJHS chapter joins a growing list of student leadership opportunities at Crestwell, which also recently established a Student Government program. The school's emphasis on character development is grounded in The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Students, a leadership framework woven into daily school life from PreK through 8th grade.
Crestwell School is accredited by MSA-CESS (Middle States Association), Cognia, and NCPSA, and is a member of the Association of Independent Schools of Florida (AISFL). The school enrolls approximately 330 students on its 6-acre campus and is known for hands-on experiential learning, STEM education, competitive athletics, and a close-knit community where every child is known by name.
100% of Crestwell 8th graders are accepted into their first or second choice high school, and graduates consistently place in the top 25% nationally on standardized tests.
